Biography

Duong Le brings extensive experience advising both domestic and international clients. He began his legal career as in-house counsel at Knight Frank Vietnam, Masan Resources, and Vingroup Corporation, where he served from 2006 to 2016. Since 2016, Mr. Duong has transitioned into private practice, specializing in corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and energy. Prior to joining PTN Legal, he held several prominent roles including Associate at YKVN Hanoi, Senior Counsel at Bizconsult, and Partner and Head of the Hanoi Office at Indochine Counsel.

In the field of M&A, Mr. Duong has represented both buyers and sellers across a broad range of sectors, including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, education, startups, and logistics. His client portfolio includes notable names such as CEC, Ecuhold Vietnam, Lavitec, Duy Hung, Holafood, Educa, Elovi, Alliance Vietnam, and Viet Thai Group.

Within the energy sector, Mr. Duong has advised on the transfer of ownership in various power projects, including:

  • End-to-end support for energy projects, from project development through to commercial operation (COD)..
  • Full equity transfer in a 50MW solar power plant;
  • Minority stake sale in a thermal power project.

His clients in this domain include Nami Energy, Vietnam Viet JSC, An Khanh Bac Giang Thermal Power, and Duc Trong Lam Dong Energy JSC. Notably, he is also actively involved in the development of new energy initiatives in Vietnam, including surplus gas-to-power projects.

In the area of foreign investment, Mr. Duong has provided legal support to a wide range of multinational corporations and financial institutions. His experience includes working with IFC/World Bank, Bank of India – Ho Chi Minh City Branch, AmTrust North America, Inc., Extreme Networks, Inc., Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises Pte. Ltd., Vestas Wind Technology Vietnam LLC, Ecu Worldwide Vietnam JSC, Charter Link Hong Kong, Cisco Systems Vietnam Co., Ltd., FLSmidth A/S, Exclusive Networks Asia Pte. Ltd., as well as major corporations such as Foxconn, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Lotte, Daesang, NH Securities, Hyundai, Posco, Sumika, Taixin, KEXIM, IBK, and Woori Bank in executing investment projects and cross-border transactions in Vietnam.
